Ecosense installs ETC Characterisation system at DCE, PDEU

Ecosense installs ETC Characterisation system at Department of Chemical Engineering, Pandit Deendayal Energy University.

Pandit Deendayal Energy University formerly known as Pandit Deendayal Petroleum university is a private university located at Raisan village of Gandhinagar Gujarat. It is one of the most sought-after university for Engineering education. Department of Chemical Engineering, PDEU recently welcomed Ecosense’s ETC characterisation system of Solar thermal lab.

An ETC characterization system for thermal analysis of fluids is a mini closed loop ETC system to study the thermal characteristics of various fluids. It uses an artificial sunlight so that it can be used inside a lab and is independent of natural climate. A chiller is also connected to the system so that once fluids get heated, students will be able to cool it down immediately and study thermal characteristics of heating as well as cooling. This system helps students in practical understanding of various technical parameters such as efficiency and heat transfer at different flexible input parameters like radiation, wind speed etc. The system has in built sensors which measure parameters like pressure, temperature, flow rate etc., mounted on a control unit. The equipment has the following features:

• Artificial source of irradiation.
• Control of irradiation level as per requirement
• Artificial Source of Wind speed with provision to set wind speed as per requirement
• Inbuilt facility analogous to rooftop and hot water tank compatible to perform experiment both outdoor and indoor environment.
• Water heater available with storge tank for pre heating of water
• Chiller tank available to quickly cool hot water
• Evaluate system efficiency and heat transfer
• An active measurement panel to measure inlet temperature, pressure etc.
• Inbuilt facility analogous to rooftop and hot water tank compatible to perform experiment both outdoor and indoor environment.
• Artificial Source of Wind speed with provision to set wind speed as per requirement.

Learning Outcomes of Ecosense’s ETC Characterization System:

• User will be able to evaluate the losses from storage tank in system stagnant condition.
• User will be able to evaluate the losses from ETC tubes.
• User will be able to evaluate the system efficiency and heat transfer amount in different parts of system.
• User will be able to evaluate the system efficiency and heat transfer amount in different parts of system at different radiation level.
• User will be able to evaluate the system efficiency and heat transfer amount in different parts of system for different inlet water temperature.
• User will be able to evaluate the system efficiency and heat transfer amount in different parts of system at different ambient conditions.
• User will be able to evaluate the performance of different nano-fluids in ETC system

Masters Training Conducted

Ecosense also conducted a masters training program at PDEU, Gandhinagar. This Masters training program was focused on educating and training the professors, scholars and technicians in Solar ETC Technology who will further train thousands of students and professionals to start their career or business in this very field.

Program Outcomes

• The faculty members and students really enjoyed our two-day training programme and loved to work on our lab equipment.
• Professors will conduct experiments on the system to understand it more deeply and incorporate this lab set up as part of their regular curriculum.
